The historic record will show that a Kenyan-born American citizen won the Cooper River Bridge Run on Saturday. And Shadrack Kipchirchir, 28, of Colorado Springs, Colo., certainly finished in a time of 28 minutes, 12 seconds.
But for those along the route, it will be hard to beat the memory of spectator Henry Middleton dancing, high-fiving runners and generally being the kind of positive influence that visitors have come to expect from Charleston.
