Weeks accepted to MIT, Johns Hopkins

Erin Weeks

Former Charleston area resident Erin Weeks, 22, was accepted to science writing master’s degree programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Johns Hopkins University.

Both schools offered Weeks scholarships, including MIT’s Ida Green Fellowship, which covers the cost of tuition, living expenses and health care for a year.

Weeks is a 2007 graduate of the S.C. Governor’s School. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 2011 after studying English language and literature and ecological studies.

Weeks worked as an apprentice for the Sierra Club in Washington and gained experience in environmental protection and legislation.

She is the marketing and outreach coordinator for the University of North Carolina’s Environmental Finance Center.
