The following programs and classes are scheduled at the Mount Pleasant Senior Center, 840 Von Kolnitz Road. Call 856-2166. Hours are 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Memberships are available to those 50 and over.

Class fees are indicated for members; $5 guest fee is required for nonmembers who are Charleston County residents; $8 guest fee for nonresidents.

Social, learning & fun

MEDITATION: This user-friendly approach teaches simple techniques. 9-10 a.m. Mondays.

LEARN TO PLAY MAH-JONGG: Learn to play the 19th-century Chinese game where luck, observation, calculation skills, a defensive strategy and a poker face add to the excitement. 10 a.m.-noon through Oct. 13. $8 materials fee required.

LUNCH BUNCH: Senior Center members share a meal together on the first and third Tuesday of every month at various restaurants. Noon. Call for locations.

"KNIT-WITS" KNITTING GROUP: Meet other knitters for fellowship and learn something new. Newcomers are welcome. 10-11 a.m. Mondays.

Cards & games

WII BOWLING: With an emphasis on gentle motions, balance and coordination, Wii Bowling offers mild physical activity. 2:30-4 p.m. Thursdays.

BINGO: Meet seniors from the East Cooper area. 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 1-2:30 p.m. Thursdays.

PINOCHLE: For all levels of players. Noon-2 p.m. Mondays.

OPEN CRIBBAGE: Bring your board if you have one. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays.

Exercise

YOGA: Tone your body and improve your health while relaxing your mind. Yoga can tone the entire body, enhance balance and improve flexibility. 10-11 a.m. and 1-2 p.m. Tuesdays; 4:30-5:30 p.m. Wednesdays; and 2-3 p.m. Thursdays. $5 per class.

"THE FIVE TIBETAN RITES" ANTI-AGING YOGA: The five simple exercises take only 20 minutes, but can dramatically increase physical strength and mental acuity and relieve muscular tension and nervous stress. 8:30-8:50 a.m. Mondays-Fridays.

GROUP PERSONAL TRAINING SESSIONS: Join personal trainer Barbara Gentle as she takes members through personally designed workouts. Four people are required to make group. To register, contact the senior center, and dates and times will be arranged. $15 per session.

PILATES MAT: Practice this total-body conditioning exercise method combining strength and flexibility. 1-2 p.m. Thursdays. $5 per class.

NIA: A blend of yoga, martial arts and dance, NIA is the latest trend in mind-body fitness fusion. This class is a fun and energizing therapeutic exercise for people of most ages and abilities. Noon-1 p.m. Mondays. $5 per class.

"BRING BACK STEP" CLASS: This 30-minute class is tailor-made for seniors, combining low-impact step aerobics, breath work and yoga stretches. 5:30-6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. $3 per class.
