Military Magnet Academy students honored chef Kim Ortego Kuver for her work in training more than 100 culinary students from the school this year.
Kuver is the executive chef of the Food Works program at the Lowcountry Food Bank.
She helped launch a shadowing program for Military Magnet culinary students in October of 2011.
Each week, eight students from the magnet school receive hands-on training while working with Kuver in the Zucker Family Production Kitchen through the Food Works program.
MMA students and culinary apprentices prepare about 350 meals each day that are served to children in the Kids Cafe program and seniors served by East Cooper Meals on Wheels.
