Scott Stauffer recently was inducted as a chief master into the American Taekwondo Association.
The ceremony was held at the 2010 World Championships in Little Rock, Ark., and was made official by 9th Degree Black Belt Grandmaster Soon Ho Lee.
Stauffer taught in the Valdosta, Ga., area for 25 years before moving to Charleston.
The process of reaching an 8th degree black belt and chief master reflects 38 years of commitment and training in the martial arts.
He is the seventh highest ranking individual in the American Taekwondo Association.
He continues to instruct children and adults in the pursuit of achieving their black belt degrees in tae kwon do at the East Shore Athletic Club in Goose Creek.
