Two local students were named McNair Scholars for the 2012-13 school year by Francis Marion University.

Wando High School student Stephanie Bosch of Mount Pleasant and Woodland High School student Amber Stanley of St. George will participate in the program, which is part of the Robert E. McNair Center for Government and History at FMU.

Scholars receive free tuition, fees, book allowance and room and board for the four years they attend FMU.

The PSARAS Foundation provided a $500,000 gift to the university to sustain the program and the center.

The McNair Scholarship is renewable for four years provided the recipient completes 30 semester hours each year and maintains a grade-point average of 3.0.
