Community Pride Inc. of Charleston County held its 46th annual Awards Luncheon on May 11 to announce Incentive and Pride Award winners being honored for their outstanding efforts to improve the community in 2012.
Donna Gueldner, chairman of Pride Board of Directors, presided over the event, and the awards were announced and presented to the recipients by Charleston County Council member Dickie Schweers, Mount Pleasant Mayor Pro Tem Thomasena Stokes-Marshall, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey and Charleston Mayor Joe Riley.
“There is tremendous value in recognizing the individuals, clubs, businesses, and government or civic organizations that are dedicated to providing a cleaner, more attractive environment for citizens and visitors to the area,” Gueldner said.
The Community Pride Award recipients for 2012 are:
Environmental Education: First place, St. Paul’s Garden Club; second place, Alhambra Garden Club.
Community Improvement: First place, South Windermere Garden Club; second place, The Garden Club of Charleston
