Scott E. Buchanan, assistant professor of political science at The Citadel, was elected to the Executive Council of the Southwestern Political Science Association, one of the largest political science research associations in the country.
Buchanan teaches Southern politics, state and local government, political institutions and elections. He is also the executive director of the college’s Symposium on Southern Politics.
Buchanan, who lives in Summerville,is a published author, having written a biography on the late Georgia Gov. Marvin Griffin, a member of The Citadel Class of 1929.
Buchanan, a past president of the Georgia Political Science Association, also wrote articles on realignment in Southern politics and has participated in oral histories of Georgia political figures of the 1950s and ’60s.
