The A.P. Tureaud Black Law Student Association’s mock trial team from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law won the National BLSA Mock Trial Competition in Washington, D.C.
Charleston native Thaddeus Johnson is a member of the team.
In January, Loyola defeated more than 20 teams at the Southern Region Black Law Students Association Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition and advanced to nationals undefeated.
In addition to Johnson, Loyola’s team consists of law students Shari Graham, Germani Hardeman and Bonycle Thornton.
The team was coached by College of Law alumni and former national champions Dante Butler and Nia Weeks.
Sixteen teams competed at the national competition, including Washington & Lee, William & Mary and the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
