Christopher David Beasley, a 2011 distinguished graduate of Fort Dorchester High School and International Baccalaureate diploma recipient, has accepted an appointment to attend the United States Air Force Academy and was sworn in as a member of the Class of 2016.

He was sponsored by the academy to attend Marion Military Institute in Alabama for one year prior to his Academy appointment.

The Air Force Academy is the youngest of the five U.S. service academies, having graduated its first class in 1959. Graduates of the four-year program receive a Bachelor of Science and are commissioned as second lieutenants in the United States Air Force.

Beasley received a congressional nomination from U.S. Rep. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and a presidential nomination. While all tuition and expenses are covered by the academy, cadets have a five-year active service requirement upon graduation.

Beasley is the son of retired Lt. Col. David and Michele Beasley.
