Louie's Kids, a national nonprofit based in Charleston that treats childhood obesity, recently was hosted by Southwest Airlines, along with 65 other community partners from across the country, for an event titled "Connecting Hearts and Minds" in Chicago.
Louie's Kids participants were the recipients of 64 round-trip tickets from Southwest Airlines.
"The first 24 came to us in support of our very successful inaugural 'Slim Down the South Celebrity Softball Game' " says Louis Yuhasz, founder of Louie's Kids. "We then entered a Southwest Airlines national competition for nonprofits from across the country. I was so shocked to receive a phone call recently announcing the award of 40 more tickets."
Southwest Airlines is celebrating the airline's 40th year of service and commitment to the communities where their customers work and live by giving 40 nonprofit organizations the chance to win 40 round-trip tickets each.
