Summerville man dies in early morning wreck

A Summerville man died in a wreck early Sunday morning when his car crossed the center line and collided with a pickup truck.

He has been identified as Johnny Carl Floyd, 47, of George Keen Drive, according to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet.

Floyd was driving a 1990 Camaro north on Jedburg Road when he crossed the center line and collided headon with a 2003 Ford F-150 about 7:30 a.m., according to the Highway Patrol. Floyd was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report. Nisbet said Floyd was driving with a beer between his legs and other cold beers in the vehicle when he collided with the pickup. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pickup driver, a 64-year old Ladson man, was wearing a seatbelt, according to the Highway Patrol. He was taken to Medical University Hospital.

Man killed, woman wounded in shooting

A 24-year-old man was killed and his roommate wounded early Sunday morning after someone kicked in the door of their Dorchester County home and started firing.

Daniel P. Robinson of 143 Brooks Loop in Summerville died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds, Coroner Chris Nisbet said. His roommate, a 55-year-old female, was taken to a local hospital.

Nisbet said the shooting happened about 5:10 a.m. when unknown suspects kicked in the door and shot the two people inside. Maj. John Garrison said the incident remains under investigation.

Police look for man in Daniel Island exposure

Charleston police are asking for help in finding a man who reportedly got out of his car, exposed himself and grabbed a woman by the arm on Daniel Island on Friday.

The incident was reported on Seven Farms Drive about 4 p.m. Friday, according to police spokesman Charles Francis. The man was said to be driving a new model black Chrysler PT Cruiser. After exposing himself to a woman and grabbing her arm, he reportedly got back in the car and drove off.

He is described as a clean-shaven white male with dark hair, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build and about 30 years of age, last seen wearing red shorts and a black shirt.

He is wanted for indecent exposure and simple assault.

Man accused of trying to rob two women

A North Charleston man was arrested in Charleston after two women said he tried to rob them early Sunday morning.

Charles Jerome Simmons, 45, of Chateau Avenue in North Charleston is charged with two counts of armed robbery.

Two women told police that a man approached them near Bogard and Coming streets about 1 a.m. Sunday, police spokesman Charles Francis said. The man allegedly demanded a wallet from one of the women, who refused to give it to him. He reportedly tried to take the other woman’s purse and she also resisted. Then he reportedly told them he had a gun and would harm them.

The women flagged down two nearby Charleston police officers. They nabbed Simmons on Bogard Street as he tried to walk away and arrested him.

Bankruptcy trustee interviews Pavilack

MYRTLE BEACH — A bankruptcy trustee for a South Carolina attorney well known for his commercials and highway billboards wants to ask about previously undisclosed assets or other information that could help pay off some of his creditors.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reported that the trustee in charge of Myrtle Beach lawyer Harry Pavilack’s bankruptcy liquidation will interview Pavilack again next month.

Pavilack owes creditors almost $73 million. His case is one of the largest personal bankruptcies ever in Horry County.
