SUMMERVILLE -- Two Dorchester County sheriff's deputies earned first place in a recent tactical police competition.

Capt. David Moore and Lt. Ken Billings won as a two-man team at the National Rifle Association's Tactical Police Competition in Fairfax, Va., last week.

The competition was created to encourage police officers to gain more experience and training using their duty weapons.

More than 110 law enforcement officers competed in the event.

Maj. John Garrison said Moore and Billings intend to participate in at least one more competition in New Mexico before taking part in the National Police Shooting Championships in September.
