James Island man sought in hotel robbery

Fordell Washington

MOUNT PLEASANT — Police have a warrant for a James Island man wanted in connection with an April 24 robbery at the Extended Stay America on Wingo Way.

Fordell A. Washington, 28, is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and 140 pounds. Photos police released Wednesday show him with a mustache and a goatee and both braided hair and a short haircut. He might be in the Bradham Road area of James Island or the Waylyn community in North Charleston, police said.

A robber with a bandanna walked into the front lobby of the hotel about 5:20 a.m., jumped onto the counter and tried to open a cash drawer, a police report said. It said a female employee ran away when the man ordered her to open the drawer.
