Supporters of incorporating a new town of James Island will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at James Island Charter High School.
Updates on the incorporation effort will be provided, said Bill Woolsey, chairman of Free James Island and former mayor of the town disbanded by court order this past summer.
Woolsey said recently that enough signatures have been gathered on petitions necessary to launch a new incorporation effort. Backers of the new town will submit the petitions with a formal application and required data soon to the Secretary of State's Office, he said.
Anyone interested in reincorporating the town is invited, Woolsey said. For more information call 697-7020.
