LANCASTER, S.C. -- Sheriff's deputies say a 44-year-old inmate has hanged himself at the Lancaster County jail just one day after he was arrested.
Sheriff Barry Faile said a guard making his routine rounds early Tuesday found Randy Stevens dead.
The sheriff says Stevens was arrested Monday and charged with public disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was awaiting a bond hearing when he committed suicide.
Faile did not say what Stevens used to hang himself.
The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death as it does with all prisoners who died unexpectedly in custody.
