Bank robber pleads guilty to 5 Lowcountry bank heists

Kelvin Barton

Bank robber Kelvin Barton pleaded guilty Monday to five robberies in the Lowcountry in 2010 and 2011, and Federal prosecutors agreed to drop weapons charges against Barton after determining he used a pellet gun, not a pistol, in the holdups.

Barton, who still is looking at up to 25 years for each of robberies, will be sentenced at a later date.

He was on supervised release at time of robberies.
