The 25th annual World Grits Festival in St. George will take place today through Sunday.

Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. today and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The World Grits Festival is noted for events such as the Grits Eating Contest, Corn Shucking Contest, 5K Run and Hula Hoop Contest, and is famous for the annual Rolling in the Grits contests, sponsored by Quaker Oats.

Children up to age 14 will begin rolling at 1 p.m. Saturday, and adults will compete at 1 p.m. Sunday. Contestants wear absorbent clothing and are weighed after their grits-roll to determine winners.

The dunking booth will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 3 p.m. Sunday. The carnival will open today at 3 p.m. and run throughout the festival. The Festival Store will be open daily.

Festivities also include country music, line dancers, crafts, clothesline art, grits grinding and a parade at 11 a.m. Saturday.
