Goose Creek man gets life sentence for killing
A Goose Creek man was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole Monday in the 2007 shooting death of 20-year-old Craig M. Canady Jr.
Donsurvi Chisolm chose to represent himself during the five-day trial in Dorchester County circuit court.
Prosecutors said Chisolm shot Canady in the head as the man sat in the front seat of Chisolm's car and that he and another man dumped Canady's body in a ditch. Telephone records showed that Chisolm called seven junkyards and parts stores looking for a new car seat so he could destroy the old one, officials said.
A hunter found Canady's body in a ditch along Clubhouse Road near Summerville.
Chisolm still faces charges in Berkeley County for allegedly killing his 14-year-old nephew and wounding his brother last year while out on bail in this case.
