A fire that destroyed a modular building at a Walterboro middle school early Wednesday is being investigated as arson, according to a report.

The blaze broke out around 5 a.m. at Forest Circle Middle School off Bells Highway.

Officers from Walterboro Public Safety said in an incident report that a small mobile home behind the main school was engulfed with flames when they arrived.

The officers extinguished the blaze. They later noted in the report that used fire extinguishers were found on a back porch and that the building had no electricity.

The building was valued at $300.

No suspects had been identified.
