MONCKS CORNER -- Robbery was the apparent motive when someone sprayed bullets into a house in Russellville early Monday, killing one person and wounding another, investigators said.

Four Eutawville men, one of whom apparently was engaged to the homicide victim, were arrested on murder charges Wednesday.

They are accused of killing Brittany Aigoro, 21, of Pineville, who was mortally wounded about 12:30 a.m. Monday when someone fired a barrage of bullets into a house on Russellville Road she was visiting.

A resident of the house, 25-year-old Kendrick Shirer, was shot in the side. He was treated and released the same day. Aigoro died at the scene from at least one gunshot wound to her back.

Berkeley County sheriff's investigators found multiple spent cartridges in the front yard and speculated there might have been more than one person firing into the house.

After the shooting, bullet holes were visible in the front door and in the windows of the living room and bedroom. One shot went through a window, through the back of a TV and punctured its screen. Bullet holes peppered the walls inside.

The occupants told deputies that someone knocked on the front door and then opened fire for no apparent reason.

Investigators determined the gunmen were trying to stage an armed robbery, said Dan Moon, a spokesman for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. He would not say what the robbers were trying to steal from the victims.

The four suspects were taken into custody with the help of Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies, Moon said.

Charged with murder are Brandon Jenkins, 22, of Broken Arrow Road; Joshua Jenkins, 24, of Torch Road; Aveon Goodman, 23, and Sheldon Goodman, 22, both of Bounty Road.

According to Aigoro's Facebook page, she was engaged to marry Aveon Goodman. And he was using a photo of himself and Aigoro as his Facebook profile picture.

All four men were being held in the Hill-Finklea Detention Center pending a bond hearing scheduled for 7 tonight.

Sheriff's Capt. Rick Ollic said the investigation is ongoing and an additional suspect may be involved. He also said additional charges might be filed in the case.
