The man fatally shot Sunday afternoon was standing inside a mobile home when a bullet from a car parked outside went through a wall and hit him, according to Charleston County sheriff's Chief Deputy Guy Van Horn.

The victim was Willard Wells, 39, of James Island, according to the Charleston County Coroner's office.

Wells was shot inside a mobile home at 6307 Old Jacksonboro Road about 4:50 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Harold Lloyd Browning Jr. of Fox Drive, Ravenel, was sitting in his vehicle outside the mobile home holding a .22-caliber pistol when it fired.

The round flew out his open driver's side window and through the wall of the mobile home and hit Wells, who was standing inside.

The two men were acquaintances, Van Horn said.

Browning was arrested at the scene and charged with involuntary manslaughter. He was released on bond Monday.
