Fatal collision kills pedestrian, blocks traffic on I-526 in North Charleston

NORTH CHARLESTON — A fatal collision blocked all lanes of Interstate 526 westbound on the morning of April 22.

A vehicle hit and killed a pedestrian between Paramount Drive and Leeds Avenue around 6 a.m., according to North Charleston police. It closed I-526 near Exit 14, with all westbound traffic re-routed onto Dorchester Road.

The backup also caused issues on Interstate 26.

By 11:30 a.m., the road had reopened, police said.
