The East Cooper Newcomers Club will hold the monthly luncheon meeting at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 19 at Carrabba's Italian Grill at 2668 Highway 17 North in Mount Pleasant. Check-in is at 10 a.m.
The program is the Preservation Society: Issues and Activism in Charleston, presented by Ginger Scully and Robert Gurley. Donations will be accepted for the benefit of Lowcountry Orphan Relief.

Three Toastmasters clubs meet east of the Cooper.
--The Mount Pleasant Toastmasters Club meets at 7:30 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Sticky Fingers Restaurant, 341 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.
--The Pleasant Speakers Toastmasters Club meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month in the Media Center at Wando High School, 1000 Warrior Way, Mount Pleasant.
--The Daniel Island Toastmasters Club meets at noon Fridays in the Sun Room at Spring Arbor, 320 Seven Farms Drive.

The purpose of Toastmasters is to help members develop better communication and leadership skills through self-paced programs. Guests are welcome at any of the three clubs.
MOMS Club of Mount Pleasant-Dunes West Area is a nonprofit support group for at-home mothers.
The group's activities include playgroups, park days, baby-sitting co-op, special outings and more. The club also performs service projects for community charities.
Mothers are encouraged to bring children to all MOMS Club activities.
The Coastal Carolina Orchid Society will hold its monthly meeting at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at The Sherman House, 1635 Wallenberg Blvd., West Ashley.
