A 59-year-old man was killed in Berkeley County on Friday morning when a sport utility vehicle overturned and hit several trees, authorities said.

Daniel Roberts of Bonneau died of head and body trauma, said Coroner Bill Salisbury.

The accident happened at 11:34 a.m. on Black Oak Drive when a 1993 Isuzu Rodeo traveling east drove off the left side of the road, went to the right side, back to the left, overturned and struck the trees.

Roberts was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the SUV, Salisbury said. A passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, was treated at the scene and released.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
