Charleston police said the motorist who struck and injured County Councilman Henry Darby while he was crossing Meeting Street in downtown Charleston at a crosswalk last week has been issued a traffic ticket.
Todd B. Kuhl, 29, was charged with failing to yield the right of way, a misdemeanor.
Darby, 55, suffered a head injury and is expected to be recuperating for about a month, Council Chairman Teddie Pryor said. Darby also is assistant principal of Ft. Dorchester High School.
A police report said Kuhl's SUV was going about 5 mph when it struck Darby, while turning from Queen Street onto Meeting Street.
