In October 2016, an SUV is abandoned in the floodwaters at Barre and Wentworth streets. File.

Downtown streets are back open after flooding caused by Friday morning rains caused them to close for several hours, according to the Charleston Police Department.

The intersection of Wentworth Street and Barre Street, as well as Ashley Avenue between Broad and Tradd streets, reopened about 2 p.m., police spokesman Charles Francis said. The streets had closed around 11 a.m.
