Dorchester Road bank robbed

A Dorchester County Sheriff's deputy begins a search for two men who robbed the First Federal branch at 8450 Dorchester Road about 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

Authorities say two masked men robbed a Dorchester Road bank before it opened Thursday morning by ambushing an employee as she entered the building.

The robbery happened about 8:20 a.m. at the First Federal branch at 8450 Dorchester Road.

The female employee had unlocked a side door and was walking into a building when two men came up from behind her and pushed her inside, Dorchester County sheriff's Capt. James Nettles said.

At least one of the men had a gun. They took an undisclosed amount of money and ran behind the bank, Nettles said. No one was hurt.

The suspects are described as two black males, both wearing dark clothing and possibly wearing bandannas or another covering over their faces. Further description wasn't provided.

Deputies are using a dog to search the area, which is not far from Ashley Phosphate Road.

The FBI and North Charleston police are aiding the investigation.
