An armed robbery was reported at about 11 a.m. Thursday at the Dollar General on River Road, according to a news release from the Charleston Police Department.

The unidentified suspect might have been carrying a small handgun, police spokesman Charles Francis said in the release.

The suspect was described as a black man about 6 feet tall and 150 pounds, according to the release. He was last seen wearing a black hooded jacket, baseball hat and blue jeans, the release said. His face was partially hidden.
