PARKERS FERRY -- Authorities have yet to release the identity of a woman who was found dead Monday on the side of Old Jacksonboro Road.

Authorities at the scene on Monday said that the woman appeared to be in her 20s or 30s and that foul play was suspected.

Charleston County sheriff's Maj. John Clark, public information officer, said Tuesday that deputies were working very hard to assist the county Coroner's Office in identifying the victim and that progress had been made.

Clark said he could not release details about that progress without the Coroner's Office having first released its findings.

Deputy Coroner Dottie Lindsay was tight-lipped Tuesday. She said she had no new information about the case. Asked about the condition of the dead woman's body or the cause of death, Lindsay said she could not comment.

Attempts to reach Coroner Rae Wooten were unsuccessful.
