A top dealer in rare natural-history prints will talk about the works of John James Audubon and Mark Catesby at 5 p.m. Tuesday in Columbia.
W. Graham Arader III, who has 35 years experience working with major auctions, galleries and restorers, will appear in the Ernest F. Hollings Special Collections Library at the University of South Carolina.
He is considered a top authority on the millions of prints of Audubon’s illustrations of birds and Catesby’s illustrations of flora and fauna that have been sold across the globe. His talk will touch on the history and market for such prints, and how issues of authentication, rarity, popularity and condition affect their value.
Original Audubon and Catesby prints from USC’s Irvin Department of Rare Books and Special Collections will be on display. Those interested in attending should call 803-576-6016 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
