An elderly Colleton County man on Monday afternoon may have become the latest victim in a tragic string of drownings.
Bobby C. Franks, 77, might have drowned or might have had a heart attack, said Colleton County Coroner Rich Harvey. He apparently fell into a rural Bazzle Road pond while gardening at its edge.
Franks was pulled from the pond by his grandson, said Colleton County Fire Chief Barry McRoy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for today.
If it is determined to be a drowning, the death would be at least the sixth in the Lowcountry in about a month.
