BOYKIN HEARING: 5 p.m. 75 Calhoun St. The Charleston County School Board will hold an appeal hearing for Boykin Academy. The school board voted to close the charter school, but the school has appealed the board's decision. The board will decide whether it can stay open.

MEETINGS ON SEISMIC RELOCATIONS: 6 p.m. Charleston Progressive Academy, 382 Meeting St. School officials will meet with parents to discuss relocation. Charleston Progressive Academy will move to the former School of the Arts campus in North Charleston because engineering reports have shown their current building could threaten the safety of occupants during an earthquake.

DORCHESTER COUNCIL: 7 p.m. Council Chambers, Dorchester County Human Services Building, Highway 17A at Highway 78, Summerville. The agenda includes a public hearing on a $5 million parks and open space referendum and a presentation on Dorchester District 2's budget.

Tuesday

CHARLESTON COUNCIL BUDGET: The Public Services Building, 4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston. Charleston County Council will discuss the proposed budget and other business in a committee meeting starting at 4:15 p.m., then hear public comments on the updated Greenbelt Plan at 6:30 p.m., followed by a regular meeting of County Council at 7 p.m. where business will include a first vote on the proposed budget for 2010-11.

Wednesday

SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE: 4:30 p.m. City Hall, Broad and Meeting streets. The first meeting of Charleston's new Sustainability Committee will be held.

charleston planning commission: 5 p.m. 75 Calhoun St. Charleston's Planning Commission is scheduled to hear revised plans for a large development in the Cainhoy Village area that's been the source of some controversy there.
