College of Charleston classes won’t resume until Thursday, as the school assesses the damage Tropical Storm Irma brought to its campus.

The college said Monday that early indications suggested the downtown campus "fared well" but that it would take another day to get a more comprehensive look.

The school said dorms would reopen Wednesday at 2 p.m. The college’s offices are scheduled to reopen that afternoon at 1. Another announcement is expected Tuesday to confirm the plans.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether students would be required to make up the missed days later in the semester. But in the meantime, the college says it’s asking professors and managers to "be flexible" with attendance if students and staff have trouble returning to campus on time.
