Second fisherman's body found in Lake Marion
The body of the second fisherman who was missing in Lake Marion was recovered Sunday.
The body of Douglas Smith, 33, of Ravenel was spotted about 5:25 p.m. in the same area the first body was found the day before, Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury said.
Smith and Michael Muse, 28, of St. Stephen, went out fishing in a 14-foot aluminum boat Feb. 11. Their overturned boat was found the next day. Muse's body was recovered Saturday.
The Berkeley County Rescue Squad and the S.C. Department of Natural Resources conducted Sunday's search, using boats from both agencies, a DNR airplane and a helicopter that a local citizen flies for the Rescue Squad, Salisbury said. The helicopter spotted Smith's body.
Salisbury ruled both deaths accidental drownings.
