SUMMERVILLE — Dorchester County Sheriff’s investigators have charged five people after they say a drug deal led to gunshots Monday afternoon in the Greenhurst subdivision.
Investigators charged Jerod Deshawn Brown, 19, of 118A Roberta Dr. with four counts of attempted murder after they say he fired a shot that shattered the back window of a white Jeep Wrangler that had the other four suspects inside, Maj. John Garrison said.
Garrison said they also recovered cash, more than three pounds of marijuana and three guns, including a sawed-off shotgun, from Brown’s home.
Roberta Drive residents called 911 about 1:20 p.m. to report a drive-by shooting occurred involving the Jeep Wrangler, according to an incident report released on Tuesday.
Sheriff L.C. Knight was in the area and saw the Jeep leaving the scene. Knight pulled the vehicle over and detained the four men inside, Garrison said. Deputies found about 1.8 ounces of marijuana in the vehicle.
Garrison said the investigation revealed that the men went to Roberta Drive to buy marijuana from Brown and that Brown at some point fired at them as they were leaving the scene.
Deputies say they found Brown in the Briarwood subdivision after he ran from the scene. He had a gun near him, Garrison said.
Deputies searched Brown’s house and found 3.7 pounds of marijuana, cash and three more guns.
More charges are pending against him, Garrison said.
Deputies charged each of the men inside the Jeep with one count each of possession with intent to distribute. They are:
Christopher Alan Bradham, 23, of Candy Lane in Summerville.
James Anthony Williams, 21, of Langley Drive in Summerville.
Shelton Black, 35, of Bear Swamp Road in Johns Island.
Brandon Lee Perritte, 20, of South Live Oak Drive in Summerville.
