A 4-year-old James Island boy was seriously injured Wednesday when he was struck by a van, the Charleston County Sheriff's Office said.
The child was riding a bike in front of his home on Robert E. Lee Boulevard about 12:50 p.m. when he was struck by a van driven by a 62-year-old Summerville man, said sheriff's Maj. John Clark.
The child was transported by Charleston County EMS to Medical University Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Clark said.
The van was taken to the Sheriff's Office for processing, Clark said.
No charges were filed in the case.
