Your best strawberry dishes may be worth a night out for dinner in downtown Charleston, or maybe another goody.

As part of its 11th annual Lowcountry Strawberry Festival this weekend, Boone Hall Plantation is sponsoring a recipe contest at 3 p.m. Saturday. Naturally, contestants must use fresh strawberries as their main ingredient in either of three categories: Shortcake, Pie or Wild Card.

The prizes, awarded in every category, are pretty sweet, too. First place is a $100 gift certificate to 82 Queen restaurant, second place is a family membership to Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens and third place is a $25 gift certificate to Boone Hall Farms Market.

For details, rules and an application form, visit the plantation's Web site at Entries also will be accepted up to the time of the event — 2:30 p.m. for contestants — as long as they're accompanied by recipe cards. Call Brooke White at 884-4371, ext. 223, for information or questions. The festival will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday at Boone Hall, 1235 Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for children.
