Charleston police pulled a woman's body from the Ashley River on Wednesday morning.

A resident found the body near The Battery shortly before 7:30 a.m., police spokesman Charles Francis said.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office came to assist with a boat within the hour, according to Capt. Roger Antonio.

Several other agencies gathered around Murray Boulevard and Limehouse Street to assist.

Police ask that anyone with information call detectives at 843-743-7200 or Crime Stoppers at 843-554-1111.
