A motorcycle crash Friday in Mount Pleasant claimed the life of a Charleston man, the Charleston County Coroner's Office said.

Geoffrey Street, 22, whose exact address was not available, was ejected from his motorcycle and hit a tree beside Patriots Point Boulevard, Deputy Coroner Kelly Myers said. She said Street was wearing a helmet but died from blunt force trauma.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 4:05 p.m., and Street was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. at Medical University Hospital, Myers said. She said Mount Pleasant police are investigating the incident.

Patriots Point Boulevard was closed by police for several hours while the crash scene was probed.
