Competing with more than 100 riders from across the United States and Canada, deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office's motorcycle squad won top honors in a recent training seminar.

The deputies competed in the Great Lakes Police Motorcycle Training Seminar last week in Barrie, Ontario. The seminar included a law enforcement motorcyclists' rodeo.

Sheriff' Sgt. Robert Grimsley won the Overall Champion award, also known as Mr. Rodeo. He also took first places in a motorcycle inspection performed by the Canadian military, in the Slow Ride competition and in the Harley-Davidson Road King Class, according to a news release.

A team composed of Grimsley and deputies Scott Eubanks, Lee Girard and Chris Wells won first place in a team competition.

Eubanks, Wells and Girard came in second, fourth and sixth places, respectively, in the Harley-Davidson Road King Class. Eubanks and Wells took first place in the Partner Ride competition and Grimsley and Girard took second.

Grimsley and Eubanks won $250 motorcycle helmets.
