Authorities in Charleston are searching for a child who was reported missing Tuesday night.

Four-year-old Heidi Renae Todd was reported missing at 5:50 p.m., according to the Charleston Police Department. Officers, firefighters, Charleston County Rescue Squad and the Coast Guard were searching the area of 2985 Sweetleaf Lane late Tuesday.

The search area is located on Johns Island north of Maybank Highway.
"Investigators are trying to determine how long she has been missing," police said.
The State Law Enforcement Division is expected to send out a call for information regarding Heidi, who was last seen wearing pink pants and a blue shirt, police said.
"She may be with a Hispanic male, skinny, 25-30 years old with short hair and dressed in all grey," police said.

Charleston police also reported around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday that the girl's mother had been taken to a local hospital.
No further information regarding the case was released.
