BATESBURG-LEESVILLE — Authorities say a South Carolina homeowner threw a man he caught stealing from his home into a pool and held him at gunpoint until sheriff's deputies arrived.
Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says the homeowner found 19-year-old Ruben Silva-Aguilar taking things out the back door.
Authorities say when 52-year-old Robert Hartley confronted the burglar, he was stabbed in the arm. Hartley managed to grab the attacker and toss him into his pool.
Deputies say Hartley then ordered Silva-Aguilar to stand in the water and held a rifle on him until authorities arrived Thursday afternoon.
Silva-Aguilar is charged with first-degree burglary and assault and battery with intent to kill.
His bail was unknown and it wasn't immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
