The Starlight Pops is definitely a go.

Tickets for the May 1 concert at Boone Hall Plantation went on sale Monday. The event, sponsored by First Federal, was briefly in question when the Charleston Symphony Orchestra announced March 28 that it was cancelling the rest of its season.

But organizers of Starlight Pops have secured the participation of CSO musicians and Summerville Community Orchestra conductor and CSO violist Alex Agrest, according to Linda Weber, public relations coordinator for First Federal.

The gates to Boone Hall open at 4 p.m., and pre- concert entertainment -- picnicking, arts and crafts, art displays -- begins at 5:30. Picnic judging starts at 6:45 p.m., and the orchestra concert kicks off at 7:45.

Tickets cost $5 to $18 in advance, slightly more at the gate. To buy tickets, go to
