GOOSE CREEK — A third man wanted in connection with Sunday's double shooting at El Mixteco nightclub on Red Bank Road has been arrested.
Osman Franco, 32, surrendered to authorities Tuesday in Holly Hill. He is charged with murder and assault and battery with intent to kill, said Dan Moon, public information officer for the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.
Domingo Zopiyactle, 23, and his friend, Nabo Rodrigo, 21, were shot about 1:30 a.m. outside the club when they tried to help a security guard being confronted by other patrons.
Zopiyactle later died of a gunshot wound to the chest. Rodrigo was taken to a hospital, and his wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, officials said.
Moises Serrano, 38, and Jose Fernando Mejia, 24, both of Holly Hill, were arrested Monday and also charged with murder and assault and battery with intent to kill.
Authorities said Zopiyactle and Rodrigo were legal residents of the United States. They had left Zopiyactle's home in North Charleston about 9 p.m. to go dancing, said Zopiyactle's cousin, Clemente Alderete.
The immigration status of the suspects was unknown. Franco has a 2006 misdemeanor conviction for reckless driving, his record shows. The State Law Enforcement Division shows no criminal history for Serrano or Mejia.
