CHAPIN — No injuries were reported when fire destroyed an assisted living facility in Lexington County.

The fire was reported shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday at the Open Arms assisted living facility in Little Mountain.

County Public Safety Director Bruce Rucker told The State newspaper of Columbia that officials think the fire started in the attic and was an accident. Rucker said arson investigators were at the scene as a precaution.

About seven residents and two staff members were in the facility at the time of the fire.
