ORANGEBURG -- Authorities have arrested two people, including a North Charleston man, in the shooting death of a South Carolina

State University student and determined the killing happened after a dispute during an on-campus drug deal.

The State Law Enforcement Division said Tuesday that 22-year-old Ray Alston Jr. of Meadow Avenue and a 16-year-old male of Holly Hill each have been charged with murder in the April death of 22-year-old Jonathan Bailey.

SLED agents said the three men met at the Orangeburg university for a drug deal and Bailey was shot in the chest as he tried to run away after an argument over how much marijuana was being sold.

Investigators said fingerprints, phone records, witness statements and ballistics tests led them to the suspects. SLED said more arrests are expected.

It wasn't immediately clear if Alston had an attorney.
