Armed man robs bank

The suspect is seen jumping over the counter in images taken from the bank’s video footage of the robbery.

Charleston police said a man with a gun jumped the counter of a Folly Road bank and grabbed money from a cashier's drawer Wednesday.

The robbery occurred about 11:40 a.m. at the Bank of America branch at 540 Folly Road. The man grabbed an undetermined amount of cash and ran out of the bank.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5-foot-6.

He wore a gray sweatshirt, dark pants, a black hat and Timberland-type boots. He also wore a mask and gloves, according to Charles Francis, Charleston Police public information officer.

Police searched the area for hours.
