RAVENEL -- An Alabama woman died Thursday after jumping or falling from a moving train southwest of Charleston.

Brandy Khamistos, 27, died of blunt force trauma, according to Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton. The coroner's office called the death a "train-related incident" in which the victim probably was not directly struck by the train.

Khamistos either jumped off or fell from the CSX Transportation train when it was about two miles south of the intersection of U.S. Highway 17 and S.C. Highway 162, Charleston County sheriff's Maj. Jim Brady said.

He said a second person stayed on the train until it stopped in Georgia, where CSX personnel were advised of the incident.

Authorities who located the body about 9:45 a.m. Thursday had not determined what time the incident occurred, Brady said.
