A Summerville teen was charged Tuesday in the Dec. 23 shooting death of a Lincolnville man.

According to affidavits from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, Joseph Lamar Brown Jr., 18, of Third Street in Summerville, entered the man's home at 705 E. Thomas St. around 12:30 p.m.

Brown shot John Pritchard, 46, in the head, after demanding money, according to the affidavits.

Brown robbed the house and then fled west on East Owens Street, according to the documents. Several witnesses saw Brown and noted that he dropped a cellphone and a large sum of money while running away.

Deputies recovered the cellphone, and investigators discovered that Brown was the owner. They also used the witnesses’ description of Brown in determining if he was the suspect, according to the affidavits.

Brown is charged with murder, armed robbery, first-degree burglary, kidnapping and possession of a firearm during a violent crime.
